This unique and lovely bowl is covered in abstract and organic patterns with upper left portion of the object features swirling, vine-like, and textured designs that resemble natural forms. Containing geometric and symmetrical designs, the lower half of the object, particularly the white and blue sections, contains repeating symmetrical shapes, including squares and triangles, reminiscent of a stylized mandala or mosaic. Its glaze effects show us a deep blue, smooth, and shiny portion on the right side as a result of the glaze technique, which creates a different visual texture compared to the more matte, raised patterns.
Possibly made with a slumping technique its style is characterized by its irregular, organic shape, which is created by "slumping" a slab of clay over or into a mold. Otherwise it may be a dump or handkerchief bowl, though it is difficult to determin.
Although its origins are unknown due to its lack of any type of signature or markings, it is still a truly unique and rare item.
Measures roughly: 8” x 7 3/4” x 7 1/2” x 1”
