Originating from 19th-century English export markets, these canisters were historically used to store and ship loose tea leaves before being converted into decorative table lamps.This pair was sold exclusivly at W.J. Sloanes, a NY city high end furniture shop selling antiques.The original label is still on the bottom. The wooden base has a repair. The tins measure 14 inches tall, x 5 widest point. Height including hardware is 25 inches tall . There is some wear, loss of image that adds to their charm.Very rare and unusual silhouette and striking as a pair. Can be used as lamps or decorative tins. As lamps, they require rewiring and some work, but an easy fix. They sit on wooden bases. See less
