A handsome solid oak pedestal desk from the 1940s, with the unmistakable proportions and craftsmanship of mid-century American office furniture. Substantial, well-built, and full of character — the kind of desk that was meant to last a lifetime, and has.
The double-pedestal form features seven drawers in total: a central pencil drawer, three graduated drawers on each side with sculptural recessed pull handles, and two pull-out writing surfaces flanking the center drawer (perfect for laptops, reference materials, or extending the work surface). Quartersawn oak grain runs beautifully across the drawer fronts and top, with a warm honey patina developed over decades of use.
Clean, simple lines with tapered legs give this desk a quieter, more architectural feel than the heavier tanker-style desks of the same era — it works equally well in a traditional study, a modern home office, a creative studio, or styled into a more eclectic interior. Equally at home with a Knoll task chair or a vintage spindle-back.
A solid, functional piece of American craftsmanship at a fraction of what a comparable new desk would cost today.
