The star-shaped design is reminiscent of typical atomic or sputnik designs from the 1950s and 60s and creates a striking, sculptural effect on the ceiling. The slender brass arms extend from a central wooden canopy and support conical sockets in a variety of colors—red, yellow, blue, white, black, and greenish-yellow. These colored elements lend the light a playful character and are typical of many italian or scandinavian-inspired designs from the post-war period. The wooden base provides a warm contrast to the metal arms.
