This imposing shell-shaped bowl is a refined example of mid-20th-century Murano glass art, attributed to the mastery of Ercole Barovier for the renowned Barovier & Toso glassworks.
The work is distinguished by the extraordinary quality of its transparent "sommerso" glass, enriched with a dense and shimmering diffusion of gold leaf inclusions. The technique used creates an effect of depth and warm luster, typical of the finest productions of the 1940s and 1950s.
The organic, sculptural form faithfully reproduces the ribs of a shell, with wavy edges and a ribbed finish that dynamically captures the light. Due to its generous dimensions, this piece is not only a collector's item, but also a visually striking decorative element (as a centerpiece or "vide-poche"). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
