A beautiful and classic Queen-size rice-carved poster bed from the "Virginia Galleries" collection by Henkel Harris. Crafted from solid mahogany, this piece features the exceptional carving and high-standard joinery that makes the Winchester, Virginia, workshop a staple of fine American homes.
The four towering posts are expertly carved with the iconic rice and tobacco leaf motifs, symbolizing the heritage of the American South. These detailed carvings are complemented by traditional reeding, spiral fluting, and elegant urn finials. The headboard follows a stepped camelback silhouette, showcasing the rich ribbon grain of the mahogany.
Condition: The bed is in very good vintage condition. The original mahogany finish remains vibrant and clear. There is minor surface wear consistent with age and light use. Some light wear to the headboard and footboard. Some scuffing on the side rails. The piece remains structurally sound.
