Stunning antique oil on canvas! 19th century European school. In heavy gold wood & plaster frame. This is such a well done piece- I love the depth in this battlefield- so much happening in the foreground, middle ground and back ground! The details are so interesting- a lot to see in this small painting. Not to mention the pleasing color palette!
The condition is good for the age- see pics. There are a few issues on the canvas itself as well as to the frame: Cracks, dents and some loss. In my personal opinion, signs of age can add interest to a piece as long as they are not centrally located and minimal- like smile lines!
The frame is approximately 15” x 22”, the inner painting 14.5” x 7.5”.
As a gift, this little jewel ticks so many boxes!
