Known as “America’s Pencil,” Dixon Ticonderoga was first introduced in the early 20th century and quickly became celebrated for its quality and durability. Long favored by generations of writers, artists, and schoolchildren alike, Ticonderoga pencils also found devoted admirers among celebrated literary figures. Norman Rockwell created artwork for the company, while John Steinbeck was famously devoted to Ticonderoga pencils, sharpening them in batches as he worked on East of Eden and The Grapes of Wrath. Author Roald Dahl was also known to favor Ticonderogas during his long writing sessions.
