Dating to the early 1920s, this … Read more For your consideration is an antique 6 piece silver plated tea service by Gorham. Dating to the early 1920s, this is a difficult to find set in this condition in silverplate. The tilting spirit kettle is a piece that was made by Barbour Brothers, not Gorham, but is included as a part of this set and compliments the Gorham pieces beautifully. Distinctive Neoclassical styling with the sharp well defined angles that was all the rage in the jazz age defines each piece. The set includes:

1 14” Tilting Spirit or Hot Water Kettle on a designated stand, missing it's burner (by Barbour Brothers)

1 10” Coffee Pot

1 8” Tea Pot

1 6” Covered Sugar Bowl

1 6.5” Cream Pitcher with a gold wash interior

1 4” Waste Bowl

Obviously well cared for and in remarkable heirloom condition, this tea service appears as if its rarely been used. Expected light surface scratching is seen on close inspection, but this is neither casually noticed or distracting in any way. No dents, dings, rub marks, plate loss, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections are found. The interiors are pristine and the hinged covers all operate as intended. The silver is fully intact and polishes to a clear and brilliant luster with each piece bearing it's applicable hallmark on the bottom of its base. The gas cartridge and ignitor that rests in the base of the spirit kettle's stand is missing, although these are easily found and available if one is desired. Wear is commensurate to age and a history of gentle and respectful use across 100+ years so please regard the photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing. See less
