A lovely and large antique English 19th Century Measham Pottery Bargeware teapot decorated with applied colorful flowers and a "God Bless This Home" decal over a glossy brown Rockingham glaze. The teapot lid is inset within a white-glazed spiny rim and topped with a cute teapot finial. Bargeware was made for use on the barges that traversed the canals of England so it was made heavy and durable enough to prevent it from easily falling and breaking when the barge tilted or turned. A very similar teapot to this was featured on The Antique Roadshow in 2014 and valued at $600 - $800.
In excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines, chips, or repairs identified. There is minimal wear to the gloss from use and some glazed over clay bits and incomplete glaze coverage of the base rim originating from the production process (see photos).
