The fan captures and stores heat from the fire because it is made of thin metal. This stored heat is then radiated back into the room. This is a nice addition to lower your heating bills in the winter and is also quite attractive. The fan folds up for easy storage when not on display or use. Note, some of the pictures may appear to be duplicates. I am showing the front and back of the fan and the ornate detail is the same on both sides. See less
