Tall quarter-sawn oak vertical file cabinet combining three deep file drawers with four shallow document drawers above, all fitted with original cast metal pulls and a central maker's plate reading "Library Bureau Sole Makers." The cabinet exhibits strong ray fleck throughout, with paneled sides, a thick overhanging top, and a plinth base anchoring the form. The upper drawers are sized for correspondence and smaller documents, while the lower drawers are built for full-scale filing, each with internal runners and period hardware. A notable feature is the use of wooden strain relief plates at the rear of the larger drawers-simple mechanical stops that allow full extension without tipping or compromising the cabinet's structure.
