This chapter brings together singular works and bespoke commissions developed for specific architectural contexts. Conceived beyond standard typologies, these pieces explore scale, material intensity and spatial integration. Each project begins with research — formal, structural and technical — to respond precisely to its environment. Materials such as solid brass, bronze, alabaster and marble are selected for their weight, texture and luminous potential. Light is treated as an architectural element rather than an applied fixture. Integrated sources, concealed structures and custom dimensions allow each piece to engage directly with walls, ceilings or volumes. Developed in close collaboration with architects, artisans and clients, these works reflect the atelier’s commitment to experimentation, craftsmanship and material precision. No two projects are identical; each emerges from dialogue, constraint and context. About marine breynaert was born in 1982 in paris. She received her formal training at the prestigious école nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in paris. In 2010, she established the atelier marine breynaert, with a primary focus on crafting high-end lighting fixtures. Her creative journey weaves a visual tapestry of minimalist lines, a keen appreciation for textures, and a mastery of material effects. Over the years, she has honed her expertise with unyielding dedication. Every creation is a testament to precision and is the result of close collaboration with french artisans. Marine's work is characterized by the intricate patinas, contrasting lacquers, and lampshades that are designed to sculpt and play with light. Her commitment to excellence and exacting craftsmanship has allowed her to unite diverse design legacies. Her lighting fixtures stand as visual enigmas, seamlessly blending elements of industrial design with the poetry of contemporary art. The creation of each object begins with research: upcycling on one hand, since the recovery of unused industrial parts was at the basis of her first creations; but also, the technical and almost scientific research required by the juxtaposition of certain elements.
