Beautiful combination of Photograph and painting by Dutch artist
Ronald Schmets
Ronald Schmets was born in 1962 at the Austrian Embassy in The Hague and is a photographer and visual artist. He studied at the Royal School of Fine Arts in The Hague, specializing in graphic and typographic design. He then enrolled at the Breda School of Photography. Ronald Schmets is deeply interested in the decoration of his photographs. He therefore seeks out numerous castles in Belgium and the Netherlands. His favorite subject is women, whom he imbues with a divine appearance. Inspired by Renaissance painters, he emphasizes the presence of curtains and religious symbols. His women appear simultaneously as virgins, lovers, and mothers; Ronald Schmets elevates them above the world of men. To give his figures this celestial dimension, he works meticulously on composition, decorative accessories, and lighting. The photograph is then printed on metallic paper, mounted on Dibond, and dipped in resin, creating a transparent veil over the image.
The line "Thy beauty's form" is a famous line from Sonnet 24 by William Shakespeare. In this poem, Shakespeare uses an elaborate metaphor in which he compares his eye to a painter who has painted the portrait of his beloved on the "table" of his heart.
