crisalide is a luminous sculpture that captures the magical moment of metamorphosis. Designer dario nasuti envisioned the bulb as a caterpillar in its larval stage, protected and encased in a steel shell. It is a work that speaks of evolution and delicacy, where the rigidity of metal is transformed into an organic, floating weave that almost seems to breathe.

the process: the weave of life
the structure is born from meticulous manual work carried out in the workshop in parma, italy.

the weaving: starting from a rectangular ceiling rose, the designer creates a complex horizontal and vertical web.

materials: large rings made of steel cables are used, hooked and interlocked in a precise, detailed pattern that requires hours of artisanal dedication.

uniqueness: the very nature of the manual interlocking process ensures that each crisalide has slightly different nuances and lines, making every piece a unique and unrepeatable work of art.

dual-channel lighting direction
what sets crisalide apart is its dual lighting soul, designed to create a deep visual experience:

ambient light: a large bulb at the end (ø 20 cm, 6w) emits a warm light that embraces the entire room.

theatrical light: two recessed led spotlights (3w each) are strategically placed on the rose. Their function is purely artistic: they project light from above directly onto the ring sculpture, enhancing the steel reflections and casting evocative geometric shadows.
