This elegant set of three antique tea cups and saucers showcases the early artistry of Royal Albert Crown China, dating to the Art Deco transition period (circa 1905–1925). Produced by Thomas C. Wild & Sons in the famed Longton potteries of England, this collection features the rare and striking Pattern 2267, a design that masterfully balances traditional Edwardian floral motifs with the emerging geometric boldness of the 1920s.
The design is centered around a vibrant, sunshine-yellow band encircling the rims, topped with a crisp black-and-white tessellated checkerboard trim. Below this architectural border lies a delicate hand-painted frieze of pink and white floral swags, anchored by black geometric "pendant" detailing. The aesthetic is completed by sophisticated ebonized handles and fine black pinstripe edging, providing a sharp, modern contrast to the delicate white bone china body.
Condition Report:
These pieces are in excellent antique condition, especially considering they are over a century old. The porcelain maintains a bright, clear resonance, and the hand-painted enamels remain vivid and glossy. There are no chips, cracks, or visible crazing. Consistent with age and light use, there is minor shelf wear on the unglazed foot rims and very light thinning to the black pinstripe detailing in small areas, which only serves to confirm their authentic vintage provenance.
Measurements:
Cups: Approximately 2.5" diameter (excluding handle) x 2.5" height.
Saucers: Approximately 5" diameter.
This set of three trios offers a rare opportunity for the collector of fine English porcelain or the enthusiast of Art Deco decor to own a cohesive, "instant collection" of early 20th-century history. Whether displayed in a curio cabinet or used for a refined afternoon tea, these pieces represent the pinnacle of early Royal Albert craftsmanship.
