Hermes Daimyo 1998 Silk Scarf
This exquisite scarf pays homage to the military governors of Japanese provinces who ruled under the shogun from the Muromachi period (1336-1573) to the Edo period (1603-1868).
At the center, cranes are depicted surrounded by ginkgo biloba foliage. The governors' swords, adorned with braid, are also shown. Iconic Japanese flowers are drawn around the edge of the scarf. The silk is textured, damasked with foliage.
The colors are contrasting and vibrant: the red is flamboyant and the blue deep.
