Haidai is a simple Japanese terms for items used when drinking sake. Haidai, is the most rare, and is only used during the most formal festivities. A haidai is a sake cup holder used as a stand to raise and stabilize the cup during fancy meal gatherings. Most porcelain sake cups have a small base thus the need. These two, cup and haidai, are in fine shape with no chips or paint loss to the gold rim. The cup measures 2.5"dia. x 1"hi. and is hand painted with a chicken and a rooster inside and a cherry blossom and branch in two places on the outside of it. It was suggested to me that it depicts a rooster ready to breed a hen, I don't see it myself but interesting none the less. The stand is done in gold and blue turtles and is signed on one corner, I can't make it out with a magnifying glass, old eyes. It is clean of any chips, flea bites, or paint loss that I see. I've had in my collection for several years on display. See less
