Javiera da Fonseca Ilić paints landscapes that sit between memory and imagination, warm, saturated canvases filled with the energy of places half-remembered and half-dreamed. She begins with photography from her travels, bringing images into the studio and transforming them into something atmospheric and emotional. What emerges are places you feel you have never been to but somehow know. Originally from Santiago de Chile, she studied Visual Arts at Universidad de Chile, graduating in 2005, and deepened her practice through mentorships with celebrated Chilean artist Eugenio Dittborn. She has presented solo exhibitions in Mexico City, Vancouver, and Zihuatanejo, with work shown at art fairs across Miami, Toronto, San Francisco, New York, and Montreal, and is held in private collections internationally. She is now based in Tulum, Mexico, where she maintains a studio. See less
