Dating to 1790-1810, this sophisticated desk embodies the refined neoclassical taste of the Regency era while offering remarkable functionality and craftsmanship.

The shaped superstructure is fitted with a series of graduated drawers and compartments above a gracefully bowed writing surface framed by delicately inlaid borders. Below, three frieze drawers are flanked by deeply curved side drawers with beautifully figured mahogany veneers displaying dramatic flame and feathering throughout. The original brass pulls and escutcheons complement the warm tones of the wood and reinforce the desk’s understated elegance.

The reverse is fully finished, allowing the piece to float beautifully in a room, and the slender tapered legs lend the desk an airy architectural presence despite its substantial scale. The craftsmanship is particularly evident in the precision of the inlay work, the complex curved drawer fronts, and the harmonious symmetry of the overall design.
