The design is in … Read more A sophisticated set of six modernist dining chairs designed by Giacomo Sinopoli for Liwan’s, Rome, Italy. The design is in the style of Milo Baughman. The chairs have a refined modern minimalist silhouette with tall backs, slim floating seats, and sculptural squared chrome bases creating a dramatic geometric side view profile. The design features an unique mixed-metal construction, pairing polished chrome and nickel with a warm brass trim along the frames. The frames are composed of polished chrome and nickel square tubing with rectangular sled-form side legs, angled supports, and pitched backs. Each chair is upholstered with Nobilis fabrics, a textured grey blue and white viscose velvet for the fronts. The backs are finished in a contrasting ivory having a subtle faux-animal skin texture while maintaining a clean and modern profile. The contrasts of chrome, upholstery, and brass give the chairs a distinct Italian Modernist profile. Giacomo Sinopoli was more into architecture but designed an exclusive documented collection in the 1970s for the Roman Company Liwan’s. His furniture pieces are rare on the market. The chairs are sturdy with solid joinery and construction. The frames have a lovely aged patina as seen in photos.
