Luis Anglada Pinto was a Spanish painter born in 1873 and died in 1946. A student of Antonio Caba at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts (Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barcelona), he was famous for his portraits of Oriental women and men, often painted following his stays in Morocco and Algeria.
He was friends with other major figures in Spanish art, such as José Maria Sert and Pablo Picasso.
His Orientalist works are distinguished by a meticulous realism in the details.
In addition to Orientalism, he was also a sought-after portraitist, painting Spanish and European subjects.
