Mid-century coffee table in teak and beech, made in scandinavia, possibly denmark, around 1960 in the codes of scandinavian design. A vintage piece halfway between a living-room centre table and a sofa-side auxiliary table, representative of the european design of danish modern in the fifties and sixties.in the post-war years, danish design became a continental reference: structural lightness, softened edges, pale woods and exposed constructive solutions.it is built with a teak top, finely figured, edged by a slim raised rim in beech that defines the silhouette and softens the corners. The base, in solid beech, comprises two pairs of tapered legs joined by stretchers, with wooden dowels visible at every joint — a constructive detail characteristic of mid-century modern. The union of top and apron is also resolved with through-dowels, with no visible screws.the patina is that of a well-lived piece: the teak retains its warm tone with very few marks, while the beech shows a paler ageing, with small rubs on edges and legs and a soft sheen settled by use. The whole piece is stable and clean, with all joints intact.thanks to its light silhouette and scandinavian lines, it sits naturally in nordic, mid-century, japandi and minimalist interiors, where it works as a centre table in front of a sofa, a coffee table in a small living room, a book table in a reading corner or a side table in a coffee area. Its warm tones converse particularly well with raw-wool upholstery and natural rugs.
