The … Read more German silver basket by Lutz & Weiss An elegant basket with a fixed handle, raised on a round base. The graceful scalloped rim, formed outwards with a fixed handle, features a top edge with a repeated openwork leaf motif between vertical openwork lines. The rim of the round base features a pearl rim motif. This basket was made by Lutz & Weiss GmbH, founded in 1882 by Carl-Wilhelm Lutz and Friedrich Weiss. Marked with the silver hallmark of Germany after 1888, the crescent moon and the crown, silver 800, 800/000 purity of silver, and the hallmark for the master sign Lutz & Weiss. The basket also bears the Dutch silver hallmark for import (used before 1953). See less
