This 19th-century Chinese tripod censer is a beautiful example of late Qing Dynasty metalwork. Cast in solid bronze, the vessel features a deep, high-relief motif of a phoenix in flight, with its plumage wrapping around the circular body. The sculptural detail is complemented by two ornate elephant-head handles, symbolizing wisdom and longevity.
The piece sits on a traditional tripod base with three tapered feet. Its small scale and substantial weight make it an ideal desk accessory, incense burner, or decorative object for a curated shelf. The absence of a maker's mark is typical for many artisanal bronze works of this period, where the quality of the casting and the natural patina serve as the primary markers of authenticity.
Condition
Excellent antique condition. The bronze has a deep, untouched chocolate-brown patina with subtle variations in color from age. No cracks or structural damage.
