This Art Deco influenced table has an imposing presence full of decoration and yet, it feels very streamlined...perfect to pair with an abstract contemporary painting or large mirror. The frieze of the table is the first aspect to drawer the eye with its stylised acanthus leaf motif in a burnished gold leaf; these elements are repeated on the square corner block legs and are accompanied with a foliate roundel, also rendered in the same gold leaf finish. The base finish of the table is of a lustrous antiqued silver leaf finish that is quietly authoritative and is particularly evident on the tapered fluted legs, terminating in a square sabot support. All is surmounted with a richly figured, polished black marble top with a simple square edge. There is no doubt that wherever this table is used - in an entry foyer or in a living or dining room -- it will be a star attraction, especially when suitably accessorized (think a contemporary painting, crystal lamps...good luck!)
The dimensions are 67.5" wide x 23.5" deep x 34" high. This table was purchased new from Marge Carson in the late 1990s for display in our high-end interior design furniture showroom. It was never sold and remained on display in the showroom. Any small imperfections or scratches are consistent with age and its use in a furniture showroom. See less
