The 'Daevid Allen' vase is a sculptural work that marks the intersection of avant-garde high fashion and the sophisticated psychedelia of the Canterbury Scene. Dedicated to the iconic figure of Daevid Allen (founder of Soft Machine and Gong), the vase is not a simple closed box, but a tapered monolith from which an organic and asymmetrical volume has been "subtracted." This sculptural "void" reveals the interior of the object, creating a play of light and shadow that reflects the non-linear and visionary nature of Allen's musical compositions.
The Genesis: from Capucci's Patterns to Steel
The history of this piece is rooted in 2001, the year designer Dario Nasuti actively collaborated on the relaunch of the Roberto Capucci fashion house into prêt-à-porter, under the creative direction of Bernhard Willhelm. from this experience, the idea of "box-construction" was born: garments conceived as 3D volumes independent of body lines. Nasuti translated this vision into a series of prototypes made with rigid pattern-making cardboard and spatula-applied silicone. After preserving these works in his private home for over twenty years, they are now reborn in the durability of steel, keeping the charm of the original sartorial "cut" intact.
Artisanal Excellence and Finish
Handcrafted Mastery: The vase is entirely handmade in Parma, the heart of Italian mechanical precision. The steel is expertly folded and welded to achieve the complex tapered shape and the iconic asymmetrical cut.
Bead-Blasted Finish: The metal is treated with a technical bead-blasting (micro-pallinatura) process. This gives the steel a matte texture that is silky to the touch, similar to a precious fabric, eliminating reflections and highlighting the purity of the architectural design.
Signature and Identity: Each piece is signed on a metal plate integrated into the base, guaranteeing authenticity and 100% Made in Italy production.
