The 'Hugh Hopper' vase is a visual translation of rhythmic foundational energy into structural form. Dedicated to the legendary bassist Hugh Hopper (Soft Machine), the vase mirrors his steady rhythmic presence through complex geometry defined by multi-faceted stratified volumes. These layered volumes create a dynamic foundational silhouette that embodies the concept of "Invisible Architecture".
The Genesis: from Fashion Patterns to Steel
The origin of this series dates back to 2001, during Nasuti’s collaboration on the relaunch of Roberto Capucci alongside avant-garde designer Bernhard Willhelm. The "box-construction" technique used for 3D garments inspired the first cardboard and silicone prototypes of these vases. After being preserved in the designer’s private home for over twenty years, these forms have been reborn in the permanence of steel, replicating the intricate folds of high-fashion pattern-making into stacked structures.
