The meteorite luminous sculpture is a formal investigation into kinetic energy and the disintegration of matter. Designer dario nasuti conceived the work to capture the exact moment a celestial body enters the atmosphere, shattering from friction. A perfect steel sphere (ø 40 cm) is deconstructed through circular extractions; the metallic "fragments" are then reattached in a cantilevered fashion to the main structure using prominent u-brackets and industrial bolts. The large central led bulb acts as the glowing core of this exploded asteroid, projecting light from the empty craters and expanding the total diameter of the work to approximately 50 cm.
self-production as artisanal performance
entirely crafted in the designer's workshop in parma (italy), the eccentricity of meteorite lies in its creative process, which could almost be defined as "action shaping". Nasuti does not rely on computer numerical control (cnc) machines or predefined patterns: every single circle is traced and cut freehand with a small angle grinder. This purely instinctive gesture makes it absolutely impossible to obtain two identical pieces. Each meteorite bears the inimitable traces of its maker's hand.
bespoke: from table sculpture to pendant lamp
as with all of dario nasuti's production, meteorite is designed to adapt to the vision of collectors and interior designers:
typological duality: originally born as a magnetic table sculpture, the piece can be requested in a pendant (ceiling) version, keeping its visual impact intact.
sartorial coloring: in addition to the industrial finish, the buyer can customize the sphere and its satellites by choosing any color from the ral chart (powder coated). This allows the meteorite to be transformed from a "space age" relic into a bold chromatic pop accent.
european plug (up to 250v).
