The last Fisherman: Slender and upright, the figure appears on the dark granite base like a creature between human and bird, still, watchful, and almost ethereal. The elongated neck ends in a head-like shape reminiscent of a beak; the fish thus becomes a symbol of an ancient cycle of life, nourishment, and transformation.
The greenish-blue patina evokes water, time, and traces of transience. The rough, vibrant surface lends the figure a special depth and makes it seem as if it has sprung from a mythical moment.
Crafted using the traditional lost-wax casting technique (Cire Perdue), the work testifies to meticulous handcraftsmanship at every stage, from casting and refining to chiseling and patination.
Aliev, a Bulgarian artist living and working in Germany, belongs to a generation of artists who bridge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic trends. His works reflect a deep respect for classical techniques while engaging in a dialogue with modern expression. Signed by Maker
