Originally designed in 1954, this set was faithfully reissued in the early 2000s by the Danish design house GUBI. The set consists of two tables that form a captivating unity through their material and geometry: a larger white table and a smaller red table. The primary material is Matégot's signature perforated metal (Rigitulle), which lends the metal an almost textile-like lightness and transparency. The design features a clever optical illusion: the white table has a circular cutout in its surface, into which the red table fits perfectly. Because the red element is slightly taller than the white one, an exciting three-dimensional effect is created, giving the set its sculptural character. This construction makes the Kangaroo far more than an ordinary coffee table – it is a dynamic work of art in the room. The interplay of the primary colors white and red underscores the graphic rigor of the design, making it an iconic accent in any modern interior.
