This plate originates from the important Dutch horticultural publication Tuinbouw-Flora van Nederland en zijne overzeesche bezittingen, issued in 1856 under the direction of botanist Willem Hendrik de Vriese. The composition features a fruit-bearing branch with richly textured green leaves, carefully drawn to show the intricate veining and natural curvature. The apricot itself is presented in warm tones of yellow and soft blush, accompanied by a halved fruit revealing the stone. A flowering branch extends to the side, displaying delicate blossoms in pale pink, capturing the plant in multiple stages of growth. Additional botanical details, including seeds and floral dissections, are arranged around the central image, reflecting the scientific purpose of the work. Lithographed by Adolf Wendel and printed in Paris, this piece is an excellent example of 19th-century European botanical illustration, combining decorative appeal with botanical accuracy. Works from this series are appreciated for their elegant compositions and their documentation of cultivated and exotic plant species. This print is highly suitable for collectors of botanical art and natural history, as well as for decorative use in kitchens, dining rooms, or refined interiors. Its soft color palette and balanced composition make it easy to integrate into both classic and contemporary settings. Condition report: Good condition with light age toning and occasional spotting. Original fold lines visible, as issued. Margins intact. Colors remain fresh and well-preserved. Framing tips: Pairs well with a warm wooden frame, such as walnut or oak, combined with an ivory or cream mat to enhance the natural tones. For a more modern presentation, a thin black frame with a clean white mat provides a refined contrast. Special note: This is an original antique engraving, not a reproduction. All items we offer are authentic period works of art over 100 years old. The print is sold unframed; any framed images are shown for presentation and interior inspiration only and may not always be on scale with the original.
