excellent patinated bronze sculpture of mercury by eutrope bouret, a sculptor renowned for his neoclassical pieces from the napoleon iii era.

the mythological figure is depicted with a bare torso, covered by a cloth, and seated on a rocky base. His arms rest behind his back, and two wings emerge from his head and legs, reflecting the iconography of the god mercury. Signed on the reverse. Mercury, the messenger of the gods, is recognized by his attributes: the caduceus (a staff with snakes and wings) he holds in his hand, the petasos (a winged hat), and the winged sandals on his feet.

this model was presented at the salon of 1883 along with a plaster cast. It has a warm, soft, brownish-green patina with slight signs of wear. The casting is of high quality, with surfaces and details masterfully filed and chiseled. This piece has an attribution mark,
