This is a stunning framed triptych of Motawi Tileworks “Pine Landscape” tiles, set in a handcrafted oak frame by Dard Hunter Studios. The composition features a serene, stylized forest scene in rich, luminous glazes, with the three-panel format adding depth and visual rhythm.
Founded in 1992 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Motawi Tileworks is known for its handcrafted ceramic tiles rooted in the American Arts & Crafts tradition. The Pine Landscape series was Motawi’s first multicolored tile line and remains one of their most recognized and enduring designs, appreciated for its clean lines and nature-inspired aesthetic.
The design is based on Addison LeBoutillier’s early 20th-century “Pines” tiles originally produced by Grueby Faience, a key Arts & Crafts pottery. The frame, made by Dard Hunter Studios from quarter-sawn white oak, reflects the legacy of Dard Hunter Sr. and complements the tiles with period-appropriate craftsmanship.
