A vintage French dining chair set in dark stained wood and woven rush, attributed to Georges Robert and produced in France during the 1950s. The set features chunky cylindrical legs, curved ladder backs, handwoven rush seats, warm natural texture, and a rustic Brutalist design language, giving it a strong and recognisable presence within French mid-century furniture.
with its sturdy proportions, dark patinated wood, sculptural rounded legs, and beautifully aged rush seats, this set brings warmth, texture, and quiet rustic character to a curated interior. It works beautifully as a complete dining chair set around a farmhouse table, oak dining table, rustic kitchen table, or as characterful seating in a design-led hospitality or project space.
Georges Robert is associated with mid-20th-century French furniture production, especially robust oak and rush seating with a strong rustic and provincial character. These chairs reflect the 1950s French interest in honest materials, handwoven seats, and functional forms, sitting between French Provincial craft, chalet furniture, and the heavier Brutalist design language that became highly collectable in later mid-century interiors.
