about the collection (l'estampe moderne)
l'estampe moderne appeared in 1897-1899 as a series of 24 monthly fascicles, each containing 4 original lithographs, printed by parisian imprimerie champenois. Many accomplished european art nouveau painters contributed works to this publication, which contained only original prints invented and produced especially for this collection. The publication was edited by charles masson and h. Piazza. Each issue came in a paper cover bearing an original lithograph by alphonse mucha.
each lithograph was accompanied by a tissue containing the details (title of the artwork, name of the artist, etc.) and a short text by a well-known author who inspired the artist.

the artist
maurice réalier-dumas (1860–1928) was a distinguished french painter and poster artist who embodied the elegant transition from academicism to art nouveau. A student of the legendary jean-léon gérôme, he initially found success with historical and mythological subjects, exhibiting regularly at the salon des artistes français. However, he is perhaps best remembered today for his significant contributions to "the golden age of the poster."
his graphic work often featured stylised, graceful female figures—notably in his famous 1896 lithograph l'incantation—which combined fine art sensibilities with modern advertising. His mastery of composition and soft, atmospheric lighting earned him a place in the prestigious publication les maîtres de l'affiche.
his works are preserved in several notable collections, including the musée d'orsay, paris; the musée des arts décoratifs, paris; the museum of modern art (moma), new york; the victoria and albert museum, london; the musée carnavalet, paris.

from the text on the tissue paper:
english translation:
in a lonely corner of a vast park, where tangled brambles invade the marble of the porticoes, corinne has seated herself at the hour when flowers find new life in the coolness of the woods. Her supple body is outlined beneath a lilac-tinted peplum, from which the young woman's feet emerge in satin sandals. With eyelids half-closed and arms raised behind her head in a graceful movement of abandon, she dreams amidst the silence that surrounds her, lulled by the vague harmony of the approaching night.
