Traveling Man Treasures is selling this 1950s Egyptian Revival sculpture of a two-headed ram. This sculpture was artisan-carved from solid wood and finished with black paint and gold gilt detailing on the heads, horns, and hooves. This piece is in good overall condition (signs of paint peeling and small cracking are shown) and would bring historical and spiritual significance to any room in which it is placed.
In the ancient Egyptian city of Mendes, they worshiped a ram deity named Banebdjedet. The ram deity of Mendes was described by Herodotus in his History as being represented with the head and fleece of a goat.
