The portrait, likely a late 19th or early 20th century photographic reproduction, is paired with a period signature and presented in a later custom frame with blue matting and gilt accents. The combination creates a striking and historically resonant wall piece.

Acquired in 1969, this work has remained in the same family since. The reverse retains its original backing, which has not been opened since that time. A label affixed to the back indicates the date of purchase and suggests it was sold through B. Altman & Co., the historic New York department store.

The frame shows light wear consistent with age. There is minor interior speckling visible within the glazing, typical of older sealed frames, which does not detract from the overall presentation.
