The 'Robert Wyatt' vase is a visual translation of musical complexity into sculptural form. Dedicated to the legendary voice of the Canterbury Scene (Soft Machine, Matching Mole), the piece mirrors Wyatt’s ability to blend structural rigor with emotional fragility. The design is characterized by multi-faceted planes that seem to rotate around a central axis, creating a kinetic silhouette that changes radically depending on the viewing angle. It perfectly embodies the concept of "Invisible Architecture": a solid object that appears to fold with the lightness of paper.
The Genesis: from High Fashion to Steel
The origin of this series dates back to 2001, during Dario Nasuti’s collaboration on the relaunch of the Roberto Capucci fashion house alongside avant-garde designer Bernhard Willhelm. The inspiration comes from "box-construction," a 3D tailoring technique that creates architectural volumes independent of body lines. Nasuti initially shaped this vision using rigid pattern-making cardboard and spatula-applied silicone. These prototypes, cherished in the designer's home for over twenty years, are now reborn in the permanence of steel, keeping the sartorial soul of the original project intact.
Artisanal Excellence in Parma
Production: Each piece is entirely handcrafted in Parma, Italy, a district world-renowned for precision engineering. High-gauge steel is folded and welded with surgical care to achieve the complex angular geometry.
Silk Finish: The surface is treated with technical bead-blasting (micro-pallinatura), giving the metal a matte, silk-like texture. This process eliminates industrial reflections, highlighting the interplay of shadows between the different facets of the sculpture.
Authenticity: The vase is signed on an integrated metal plate, certifying it as a 100% Made in Italy product.
