The 'Phil Miller' vase represents the most complex evolution of the Canterbury series. Dedicated to the legendary guitarist Phil Miller (Soft Machine, Matching Mole), the piece moves beyond single geometry to explore hybridization: a rectangular volume and a cylindrical one merge into a single monolith. The junction point features two fused "curls" or folds on the top edges, creating an asymmetrical dynamism. It is a visual metaphor for Miller's music: a rigorous structure that dissolves into improvisational flows and sonic layering.
The Genesis: A Sartorial Secret in Steel
The inspiration for this series dates back to 2001, when designer Dario Nasuti collaborated on the relaunch of the Roberto Capucci fashion house into prêt-à-porter, alongside Bernhard Willhelm. from that research on clothing as 3D architecture (box-construction), the first prototypes in rigid cardboard and silicone were born. The 'Phil Miller' model is the one that best reveals the sartorial soul of the project: the folds in the steel mimic the way fabric opens and reveals itself. Preserved for over twenty years as private visions, these vases are reborn today in the strength of Parma steel.
Production Excellence: The "Parma Touch"
Technical Mastery: Entirely handmade in Parma, Italy, the vase requires surgical precision in welding and folding the steel to harmoniously join the cylinder to the rectangular section.
Silk Finish: The surface is treated with technical bead-blasting (micro-pallinatura). This process gives the steel a matte and silky texture, eliminating industrial reflections and transforming the metal into a tactile and precious material.
Identity: Each piece is signed on a metal plate integrated into the base, a symbol of 100% Made in Italy excellence.
