c. 1930s-1940s; Sherwin-Williams Company - Cleveland, OH, USA
Double-sided flange-mounted porcelain sign featuring the iconic "Cover the Earth" globe graphic, with a tilted paint can pouring red paint across a map labeled with continents including Africa and Europe. The lower field reads "SHERWIN-WILLIAMS PAINTS" in bold block lettering against a white ground, while the upper crest retains the smaller can motif. The sign is formed with a projecting flange bracket for perpendicular storefront mounting, allowing visibility from both directions.
The graphic remains highly legible, with strong contrast between the red, white, and black palette despite areas of corrosion and flaking. The flange bracket remains intact, and the sign retains its original form, presenting well as a classic example of early 20th century American paint advertising.
