Large Antique Persian Malayer Rug Navy Field Medallion Floral Design Rug. Keivan Woven Arts/ rug/B25-0301, country of origin / type: Iran / Malayer, circa 1880.
Large Antique Persian Malayer rug featuring a striking and spacious composition set against a deep navy field, highlighted by a series of bold medallion and stylized botanical forms arranged with strong visual symmetry. The design combines geometric structure with expressive, curvilinear elements, creating a dynamic yet balanced layout.
The palette is rich and time-softened, showcasing deep navy, faded terracotta, brick red, ivory, muted gold, and soft hints of pale blue and sage. Areas of gentle wear lend character and depth, enhancing the rug’s authentic antique presence and giving the surface a beautifully aged patina.
A wide border in warm rust and soft blue tones frames the field, filled with repeating floral and geometric motifs that echo the interior design. The layered borders provide definition while complementing the bold central composition.
Malayer rugs are appreciated for their versatility and distinctive regional style, blending structure with artistic variation. This large-scale example offers both visual impact and subtle elegance, making it a compelling centerpiece for traditional or modern interiors seeking warmth, texture, and history.
