Antique low sideboard in pine wood, traditional Chinese furniture originating from Gansu and dated circa 1930. Originates from Gansu, in northwestern China, from the early 20th century, where local pine was worked using mortise-and-tenon joinery without nails, with long-format tops.In the rural houses of the Hexi corridor in the early 20th century, long low sideboards were used as auxiliary surfaces beside the kang, as living-room furniture or as bench-sideboards in shared areas. Their reduced height and horizontal format suited the habit of living close to the floor, an established custom in northern China.Built in solid pine using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, without nails. The horizontal case articulates three central drawers with iron latch-style pulls, an open central niche and two lateral doors with iron pulls. The sides are resolved as solid lateral plates, without exposed legs, giving the piece a continuous horizontal reading. The patina retains the warm tone of aged pine, light and luminous, with visible grain. The sheen is matte. The surfaces show the marks of prolonged domestic use: knots, tinted grain and small stains integrated into the wood. The structure remains solid. It fits naturally in minimalist, wabi-sabi or contemporary rustic interiors. It works as a low TV sideboard, a bench-sideboard in a wide entrance or a horizontal console facing a long sofa. Its length lets it visually anchor a full wall.
