Coin cabinet with flap made of ebonized walnut and inlaid with boxwood and rosewood in the style of Ambito Pogliani … Read more Coin cabinet with flap made of ebonized walnut and inlaid with boxwood and rosewood in the style of Ambito Pogliani (a cabinetmaker and inlayer active in Milan in the second half of the 19th century).
The cabinet is designed to be freestanding and features a front drawer inlaid both on the front and inside.
When opened, it reveals seven small drawers plus one full drawer (bottom) surrounding a small door with a key. This door, in turn, hides two smaller drawers and the so-called "secret" that these pieces always contained: removing the false bottom reveals three small drawers for storing the most precious "treasures."
In excellent overall condition, no cracks or missing parts. The hardware is contemporary to the period. with the drawer open, the cabinet measures 76 cm in depth. See less
