Ox Chair with matching ottoman designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by Erik Jørgensen.
This is a very different piece compared to most of Wegner’s work. The shape is bold and quite sculptural, with the metal frame rising into those horn-like arms that give the chair its name. It has a strong presence, but still feels balanced once you sit in it.
The seat is low and wide, which makes it more of a lounging chair than something upright. Together with the ottoman, it becomes a very relaxed setup. The brown leather softens the overall look and works well with the exposed metal frame.
Chair width is about 37.4 inches, depth around 33.5 inches, and height approximately 34.3 inches. Seat height is about 12.6 inches, so it sits quite low. The ottoman is around 13.8 inches high, 23.2 inches wide, and 19.3 inches deep.
What we like about it is the character. It’s not a quiet piece, but it’s still comfortable and very usable, which is not always the case with more expressive designs.
