A quietly enchanting watercolor by artist Florence Strauss, depicting a romanticized hillside village called Lucerne in Switzerland, bathed in soft, atmospheric light. Slender church spires and turreted rooftops rise through a lush canopy of green, dissolving into a misty blue horizon that gives the piece its dreamlike depth.

Strauss’s hand is delicate yet intentional, layering translucent washes of green and blue with warm terracotta accents to create both structure and softness. The composition draws the eye upward through the village, evoking the feeling of wandering through an old-world countryside at dawn. Matt and frame is approx 5” wide. This piece was purchased directly from the estate of Florence Strauss in Palos Verdes, CA.
