This early and rare large cabinet, designed by Aldo Tura in Italy during the late 1930s, is made from eggshell, quarter cut Walnut, glass, and brass.The drawers and doors are covered with eggshell inlay, a traditional Japanese technique that was uncommon in Italy during the 1930s and 1940s due to its complexity and time-consuming process. Tura’s use of eggshell inlay during this period was rare, as the technique was not widely recognized by Italian clients.This cabinet highlights his dedication to craftsmanship and innovation.The structure consists of two sections: a lower portion with multiple drawers and an upper storage compartment. The drawers are arranged symmetrically, each featuring a horizontal handle and a locking mechanism. The upper section has two doors that open to reveal a mirrored interior with glass shelves for storage or display. The cabinet stands on cylindrical feet, elevating it from the floor. The eggshell finish contrasts with the quarter cut Walnut frame, creating a visual distinction between materials.
