An early modernist desk lamp by the Dutch manufacturer Daalderop, designed by Kurt Versen in the 1930s and documented in the original Daalderop catalog of that era. This iconic, Bauhaus-influenced design, along with other works by Versen, was exhibited at the 1939 World's Fair in New York and at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in 1951 as part of the "Good Design" exhibition, and is now considered a key piece of modern lighting design. The lamp features a sculptural, untreated nickel stem and a patinated metal hemispherical shade, set at a precise 90-degree angle, giving the lamp an architectural, timelessly modern expression.
