The name refers to the Japanese willow, reflected in the refined botanical decoration on the body. The slender wooden doll has a warm natural wood surface, a dark rounded hairstyle and a calm face with fine eye lines and a subtle red mouth.

Dimensions: height 31 cm, diameter 11 cm.

The body is hand-decorated with graceful willow branches and lightly shimmering accents, beautifully contrasting with the natural wood grain. The elongated form, soft colour palette and botanical motif give this kokeshi a serene, almost poetic presence.

A characterful collector’s piece within the Japanese sōsaku kokeshi tradition, also beautiful as a refined decorative accent in a stylish interior. Marked with a label on the underside and a partly faded signature on the body.

Condition: light signs of use consistent with age; well preserved and decoratively strong. See less
