Inspired by the animal forms of classical antiquity, the piece combines references to ancient Greek and Roman sculpture with a restrained neoclassical sensibility. The expressive modelling of the face and the dramatic spiral horns give the work a commanding yet refined presence. The surface has been carefully treated to reproduce the soft depth of oxidised metal, while the plaster retains a subtle texture that reveals the handmade character of the casting. This example originates from an artist’s studio cast, produced after an original model preserved as a sculptural study.
